Living with Dementia - Information Evening

The HSE's Older Person's Service Donegal will host an information evening to promote awareness of ‘supporting positive health and safety in the home and community for people with dementia’ on 9th May 2017 -7pm-8.30pm (Registration starts 6.30pm) at  the Strand Hotel, Ballyliffin, County Donegal.

This evening will be of interest to people with dementia, family members and carers, members of the community, doctors, nurses and all health care professionals, gardai, fire service etc.

Topics for the evening will include;

  • Dementia design in the home and community
    Promoting well-being, for example the importance of being active and eating healthily in daily life 
    Promoting safety within the community and the home
    Understanding more about ‘wander walking’

Guest Speaker

The evening will feature a presentation from guest speaker Professor Jan Dewing, Centre for Person Centred Research, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, Scotland to Donegal.. Professor Dewing is a registered nurse who has expertise, experience and knowledge in many aspects of dementia care. Professor Dewing is passionate about supporting person centred cultures of care and is specifically focused on how people can live well with dementia.
